Rabbi Yehuda says: The kinor (harp) of the Mikdash had seven strings, as it says, ‘Sova semachot et panecha’ (Tehillim, 16:11). Don’t read it as ‘sova’, but rather as ‘sheva’ - ‘seven’. And the [harp] of the days of Mashiach will have shemoneh, eight, as it says (Tehillim, 12:1): ‘For the conductor on the sheminith’ (an instrument of ‘shmoneh’ - ‘eight’ strings).
