Elul 24 is the yahrtzeit of Rabbi Israel Meir HaCohen Kagan, commonly known as « the Chafetz Chaim » after the title of one of his books, one of the most revered and beloved rabbinical scholars and leaders.
Chafetz Chaim wrote more than 20 books, including:
• Mishna Berura, an authoritative, almost universally accepted compendium of Jewish Law,
• Shmirat HaLashon, laws of proper and improper speech,
• Machaneh Yisrael, Torah observance for soldiers in the army.
