Elul 24 is the yahrtzeit of Rabbi Israel Meir HaCohen Kagan, commonly known as “the Chafetz Chaim” after the title of one of his books, one of the most revered and beloved rabbinical scholars and leaders.
Chafetz Chaim wrote more than 20 books, including:
• Mishna Berura, an authoritative, almost universally accepted compendium of Jewish Law,
• Shmirat HaLashon, laws of proper and improper speech,
• Machaneh Yisrael, Torah observance for soldiers in the army.
